Rev Fr Lorenzo Fernando
Prof. Lorenzo Fernando is a priest of the diocese of Tuticorin. He studied his philosophy and theology at Jnana-Deepa Vidyapeeth, Pune. He obtained his licentiate in Philosophy and master’s degree in theology from JDV, Pune. He did his master’s degree in sociology at Pune University. He has done his doctorate in Theology with specialization in catchetics at Pontifical Salesian University in Rome. He was appointed a professor of Theology at JDV by the Congregation for Catholic Education, Rome. He has taught at JDV for 28 years and he has been the Dean of the Faculty of Theology at JDV for two terms. He has been the vicar general of the diocese of Tuticorin.
Throughout his stay in Pune, he has been a beloved resident of Papal Seminary, Home of Love.
He is the author of the book entitled ‘Anthropological Method and Attitudinal Change’ and also of the book entitled ‘Word in the World’. He is the co-editor of the book entitled ‘Quest for an Indian Church’. He has published many articles in theological journals and he has presented research papers in national and international conferences. He was the rector of the MMI College of Theology and Philosophy, Palanchur, Chennai.
Special mass will be offered for him at Papal Seminary, by Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Dabre at 6:45 AM, on Thursday, 29, June, 2017. The funeral takes place at Tuticorin at 10:00 AM on 29 June, 2017. Fr. Joe Francis, newly joined staff at JDV and Papal Seminary, will represent us during the funeral.
